How Copilot is paid for

  • Copilot chat uses Copilot tokens, based on the tokens each conversation consumes.
  • Billing codes (Update Billing) also use tokens, on both successful and failed attempts.
  • Tokens come from your token wallet, or the team wallet in a team.
  • Update template (in a finished note) uses credits, not tokens. See Chartnote plans, pricing and AI credits.
  • Individual Max subscribers get unlimited Copilot tokens, subject to temporary usage limits. On Team Max, tokens show as “unlimited”.
  • On Basic and Pro, Copilot chat is limited by your token allowance. Copilot tools for AI Scribe and Voice Chart notes are unlimited on Pro.

Add tokens

1

Open Settings → Copilot Tokens.

2

Click Add tokens to your wallet and complete the payment.

If you see a usage-limit message

Copilot may temporarily limit usage during heavy activity. Long conversations require more processing because earlier messages are included as context. When you move to a new topic or task, start a new chat to keep the conversation focused and reduce unnecessary context. Starting a new chat does not reset an active usage limit.
1

Wait a while, then try again.

2

When you change topic or task, start a new chat instead of continuing a very long one.

3

Keep requests concise, and space them out where you can.
