# Add or remove seats on your team plan

> Add or remove seats on your Chartnote team plan from Team Management. Learn how seat changes affect billing and why removing a person keeps their seat paid.

Change how many paid seats your team has as people join or leave.

**Who this is for:** Team Admins · **Plans:** Team Max · **Where:** Web (app.chartnote.com)

## Before you begin

* Switch to your team context from the account menu (click your avatar in the bottom-left corner). The **Team** icon appears in the left sidebar only when you're in your team context.
* Each paid seat (Member or Admin) includes one assistant seat at no extra cost.

## Add seats

**1. Click **Team** in the left sidebar to open **Team Management**.**

**2. Click **Seats**.**

**3. Click **Add seats**.**

**4. In **Add seats to this team**, enter the number of additional seats in **Seats**. Enter only the seats you're adding, not your new total.**

**5. Check the message that shows how many seats will be added, then click **Save**.**

>
> **Add seats** is also a button on **Team's Dashboard**. You can also open the account menu, choose your team in the dropdown, then click **Edit team**.

## Change the number of seats on your subscription

**1. Click **Team** in the left sidebar to open **Team Management**.**

**2. Click **Subscription**.**

**3. Click **Manage subscription**, then **Update subscription**.**

**4. Increase or decrease the seat quantity and click **Continue**, then confirm.**

> [!NOTE]
>
> Removing a person from a seat doesn't reduce what you pay. "The seat stays on your plan" until you lower the seat count in Subscription.
