# Start a paid Chartnote subscription

> Start a paid Chartnote subscription from the free Basic plan: choose Pro or Max, pick monthly or yearly billing, and check out by card or bank account.

Choose Pro or Max, pick monthly or yearly billing, and pay by card.

**Who this is for:** Solo users on Basic or new users · **Plans:** Pro, Max · **Where:** Web (app.chartnote.com)

## Subscribe

**1. Sign in or create a free account at [app.chartnote.com](https://app.chartnote.com/welcome).**

**2. Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner to open the account menu.**

**3. Open **Settings** → **Billing & Plans**. (The account menu also has a **Billing & plans** shortcut and an **Upgrade** button.)**

**4. Under **Choose your plan**, keep the **Individual** tab and choose **Monthly** or **Yearly**.**

**5. On the Pro or Max card, click **Checkout with Card!****

**6. On the **Subscribe to Chartnote** page, enter your card or bank details and click **Subscribe**. To use a promotion code, click **Add promotion code** under Subtotal first.**

Your plan is active right away. If you upgrade mid-period, you're credited a pro-rated amount for the time left on your current plan.

> First-time subscribers can start a 14-day free trial of Pro or Max from the **Not sure yet? Enable a FREE TRIAL!** banner. You can't start a second one.

Subscription checkout accepts a card or a bank account. Apple Pay and Google Pay aren't offered there.
